Rick Karp was born and raised in Ottawa and went to Carleton University for his undergraduate work before moving to Kingston Ontario to go to Queen’s University studying for Degrees in Education. Rick taught for 14 years, came to Whitehorse with his wife Joy in 1985 to open the McDonald’s restaurant, and was in business for more than 30 years. He is an active member of the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce, and very involved in the Whitehorse community. Rick has two grown children, and two grandchildren, who live in Vancouver B.C.
