Jewish Cultural Society of Yukon
The mandate of the JCSY is to develop an active and supportive Jewish Community. We are also working to document and share the impact of the Jewish Presence during and after the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898.
It took months to get from San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria and Winnipeg to the fields of gold - and it was a dangerous journey. There were close to 200 Jews in Dawson City during the Gold Rush (1897 - 1915).
The Jewish Cultural Society of Yukon found, restored and re-dedicated the Dawson City Jewish Cemetery in 1998. The project received national print and media attention.

Boreal forests, lakes and rivers, mountains, the northern lights, wildlife viewing, experiencing the quiet, and the natural beauty of the
true wilderness. Yukon is one of the most beautiful places in the world to visit and experience.
The Jewish Community of Whitehorse respectfully acknowledges that we live within
the traditional territory of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.
